Alto da Serra Station was founded in 1921. During the 1990s, it served as a stop for passengers on the now-defunct Atlantic Forest Train, which connected Lídice to Angra dos Reis. The route, featuring numerous natural viewpoints and waterfalls, was highly praised by passengers. Today, the ruins of the station preserve the memories of the railway and its tunnels.
