Description

The Rio Claro Water Loop is a long-distance multimodal trail that passes through all districts of the municipality of Rio Claro, connecting the Center to the regions of Lídice, Macundu, Passa Três, Fazenda da Grama, Getulândia, and Pouso Seco, traversing the hinterlands of Hortelãs, Prata, Róla, Sinfrônio, Itaoca, among others. Along the trail, hikers or riders encounter the wealth of water resources, historical, and cultural aspects of Rio Claro, discovering its waterfalls, the ruins of São João Marcos and Fazenda da Grama, old railways, various natural viewpoints, the famous Ribeirão das Lajes Reservoir, a rich avifauna, and much more. With 10 mapped sections and 5 already implemented, the Rio Claro Water Loop invites you to this memorable experience!

Route

The first segment starts from the center of Rio Claro heading toward Sertão da Prata, passing by Pedra do Bispo and Sertão dos Hortelãs along the way. Then, it descends toward Estação de Lídice. From Estação, the third segment makes a full loop around the Alto da Serra region until reaching Lídice, from where the Volta das Águas de Rio Claro continues toward Macundu, crossing the Sertão da Itaoca. The fifth segment takes visitors from Macundu to the São João Marcos Archaeological and Environmental Park, then on to the RPPN Fazenda São Benedito, reaching the district of Passa Três. From Passa Três, the eighth segment climbs toward Fazenda da Grama, and the trail proceeds to Getulândia and Pouso Seco, finally returning to the center in its last segment.
