A captivating trail with many tributaries along the way, the Poço Samambaia Trail is part of the Santa Fé Water Circuit, located in Cachoeiras de Macacu. In several sections of the trail, it's possible to see the imposing Pedra do Colégio (College Rock). The route ends with a beautiful waterfall, perfect for those who love swimming in nature.

Route

Access to the trail can be started at any point on Av. Aristides Antônio Falcão, in Boa Vista (as this avenue extends from Boa Vista to Santa Fé). If you start near the Vidal Market landmark in Boa Vista (on Av. Aristides Antônio Falcão), after traveling 1.4km in, you will find a fork in the road to Rua das Pedras; turn left. Upon entering Rua das Pedras, 300m ahead you will find another fork; turn left again onto Estrada da Fábrica, where the trail begins. The trail runs through areas with plenty of sun exposure and areas with plenty of shade from the trees, with few sections where there are rocks on the path, making it necessary to walk with appropriate footwear. Along the way, you will find several tributaries, where you can even see bridges for crossing, and a stream that is easy to cross. You will also see bamboo groves, water springs, Jequitibá trees, and a panoramic view of Pedra do Colégio. The trails are clean and easy to navigate, as they are accessible by vehicles. Reaching the end of the route, it is inevitable to turn a few corners and enter steep paths to reach the Poço Samambaia, requiring the accompaniment of a guide or someone familiar with the trail as there are no signs.
