Description

The Waterfalls Trail is the most famous and stunning circuit in Iguaçu National Park, in Foz do Iguaçu. It offers one of the most impactful visual experiences on the planet by guiding visitors through panoramic viewpoints overlooking the largest waterfall system in the world. The Iguaçu Falls are made up of 275 waterfalls up to 80 m high, fed by the flow of the Iguaçu River. Both its location in the middle of the jungle and its enormous water volume and numerous falls make it an unforgettable and must-visit place.

Route

The Cataratas Trail was designed on top of the Iguaçu River canyon, on the Brazilian side. Unlike paths focused solely on immersion in dense forest, this route combines the native vegetation of the Atlantic Forest with constant scenic openings to the waterfalls on both the Argentine and Brazilian sides, culminating in the epic access to the Garganta do Diabo (Devil's Throat). Its entire infrastructure includes walkways, handrails, and strategically positioned observation viewpoints. The trail is approximately 1.5 km long and takes an average of 1 hour and 30 minutes to 2 hours to walk calmly, due to frequent stops for photographs and contemplation. The trail has a difficulty level ranging from easy to moderate, being paved and equipped with steps in some sections along the slopes. As visitors progress, the viewpoints offer increasingly closer angles of the falls, such as Salto Floriano, Salto Deodoro, and Salto Benjamin Constant. The highlight of the route is the Garganta do Diabo walkway, a suspended structure that extends over the bed of the Iguaçu River and takes visitors to the edge of a constant mist created by the impact of the waters, providing frequent rainbows and a unique sensory experience. The route ends at the Porto Canoas complex with a panoramic elevator that reveals the view of the canyon from the top.
