Description
The trail between Caxadaço Beach and Lopes Mendes Beach is one of the wildest, "rooted," and least traveled sections of Ilha Grande. It is a moderately to difficult hike, lasting about 2 to 3 hours. The route is wild, with limited signage in some areas, passing through stretches of forest, with the possibility of a detour to Santo Antônio Beach. Infrequently visited, it is considered a secondary and quite rustic connecting trail.
GuidelinesTips
ATTENTION: It is very common for hikers to lose the trail in this section, especially between Caxadaço and Santo Antônio. If you do not have navigation experience, do not take the risk. You will find absolutely nothing to buy along the way. Lopes Mendes also has no kiosks, only street vendors selling drinks. As it is a preservation area with dense vegetation, insects are relentless. Bring strong insect repellent. Tide and Waves: Lopes Mendes is open sea and has strong waves. If you plan to leave there by sea, be aware that boats do not dock on the sand at Lopes Mendes; you will have to walk another 20-30 minutes to Praia do Pouso (calm side) to catch a boat.
