Description

The trail from Vila do Abraão to Saco do Céu is one of the most pleasant routes on Ilha Grande. It is perfect for those who want to experience the jungle atmosphere and visit paradise beaches without the exhaustion level of the island's more strenuous trails. It is part of the long-distance trail Volta da Ilha Grande and is also classified by Inea RJ as section T1 to T2. Saco do Céu is an ecological sanctuary, a bay with waters so calm that they appear like a mirror. It received this name because, on clear nights, the stars reflect perfectly on the water's surface. There lies the Enseada das Estrelas.

Route

Starting at Vila do Abraão, the arrival point to Ilha Grande and the largest community on the island, the trail actually connects two official sections, 1 and 2. Along the way, you will pass Abraãozinho Beach: The first must-stop. It is a beach with calm waters, ideal for a quick dip before heading into the denser part of the forest. Natural Viewpoints: On the uphill section after Abraãozinho, you will have windows between the trees with incredible views of Abraão Cove. Witches' Beach (Detour): A small, rustic beach that is usually very quiet. To get there, add another hour of walking. Witches' Waterfall (Detour): Although it is not directly on the main path to Saco do Céu, there is a famous fork that leads to this 13-meter waterfall. Attention: the detour adds about 1.5 hours to the total time.
