Description

The first section of bike touring in the Return of the Waters of Rio Claro takes cyclists from the center of Rio Claro to the district of Lídice, mostly along dirt roads, with some inclines that make the route difficult. At one point, it is necessary to cross the Piraí River while carrying the bicycle. There are urban areas where the route passes through highways, requiring extreme attention and caution while cycling. The Lídice Station is an attraction that can be found near the end of the route.

Route

The route begins at an easy level, with ascents and descents of comfortable gradient. However, the stretch along the highway and its access at the exit of Rio Claro currently presents very dangerous conditions, as motor vehicles travel at extremely high average speeds, making traffic sharing with cyclists unsafe. Next, the technical difficulty increases due to the need to carry the bicycle on the shoulder across the river, unless a small bridge or footbridge is built. Additionally, the trail leading to the river on the Rio Claro side, even after being reopened and cleared, will still require cyclists to push their bikes at certain points. In the final section, the route features significant climbs and descents in some areas, which raises the difficulty level of the segment to “hard” for that reason – although no major technical skills are required. There are also other climbs along the way that can be considered moderate.
