Route

The crossing begins in the district of Lapinha da Serra, a small village with dirt roads and simple pavement, home to about 500 inhabitants and surrounded by mountains, belonging to the municipality of Santa do Riacho, in the Serra do Cipó. The crossing heads towards the Cachoeira do Tabuleiro, in the city of Conceição de Mato Dentro. The route passes through mountains, rocky fields, natural pools, and waterfalls, offering beautiful views of the Serra do Cipó, which, along with the Chapada Diamantina, the Serra dos Cristais, and the Serra de Ouro Branco, among others, forms the Serra do Espinhaço mountain range, extending over 1000 km - the Brazilian Cordillera, from the mining cerrado to Bahia. On the first day (about 18 km = ascent to Pico do Breu), it is possible to reach the summit of Pico da Lapinha, which stands at 1686 meters above sea level. At the base of this peak, there is an access control point with a bathroom and drinking water, where you can leave your backpacks before heading to the summit. The next stop is Pico do Breu, at 1687 meters above sea level, which features an archaeological site. If you prefer not to go to the summit, you can bypass this peak at its base. On the second day (about 18 km + ascent to the top of Cachoeira do Tabuleiro), after an overnight stay at the support point, you walk towards Cachoeira do Tabuleiro. You can leave your backpack at the nearest support point to go to the top of the waterfall. The trail ends within the Tabuleiro Municipal Natural Park, and there is no fee to enter the park.
