Description
At almost one thousand meters of altitude, the Área de Proteção Ambiental de Palmares, in a neighborhood of Paty do Alferes, covers 1,479 hectares and supplies 70% of the municipality's water. The APA Palmares is part of the Tinguá-Bocaina biodiversity corridor and was protected in 2003, after centuries of degradation and deforestation caused by coffee planting.
