Description

It is a set of rural roads amidst the nature of the Circuito das Águas Paulista and Sul de Minas region, connecting 20 municipalities and 5 districts, forming a Tourist Route that traverses the Serra da Mantiqueira. It provides a transformative experience for individuals, families, or groups, leading to self-discovery, reflection, memory recovery, and the practice of physical, sports, ecological, and adventure activities. It can be traveled on foot, by bicycle, on horseback, or even by car. The construction of the Path to the Interior itinerary prioritized rural roads but also takes tourists into urban areas, as it ensures that each official landmark of the path is located next to the main church of the town.

Route

The Caminho Pro Interior is made up mostly of rural dirt roads. Among the valleys and mountains of the Serra da Mantiqueira, it crosses green rolling terrain with its nature reserves, passing springs, rivers, waterfalls, and plantations of coffee, strawberries, potatoes, grapes, vegetables, and flowers. One of the lushest regions in Brazil. A PUBLIC Tourism and Pilgrimage Route that brings together 20 municipalities, 09 of them belonging to the Circuito das Águas Paulista and another 11 from the surrounding macro-region, 03 of which are in the south of Minas Gerais. In total, we are connecting 537 kilometers of rural roads and urban areas, enabling pilgrims and tourists to get to know these communities, their histories, Churches and Chapels, as well as tourist attractions such as specialty coffee growing, cachaça production, and other riches of the rural world; railroad stations and railways; diverse immigration and its cuisine; specific artisanal and industrial production; as well as the highlights or special features of each town (chinaware, flowers and plants, sports, adventure, nature, history...).
