Although Brasília is known mainly for its modernist architecture and its government institutions, the area around the federal capital also offers opportunities for ecotourism and contact with nature. Despite being a planned city, Brasília offers a variety of preserved natural areas that allow visitors to enjoy the beauty and biodiversity of the Brazilian Cerrado, such as the Jardim Botânico de Brasília, the Parque Ecológico Dom Bosco, and the Floresta Nacional de Brasília, to name just a few.
