Parque Eduardo Guinle
Parque Guinle was originally a small farm acquired by Dr. Eduardo Guinle to build his residence. Located in the Laranjeiras neighborhood, the park area was once the gardens of the mansion built in the 1920s, which were designed by French landscape architect Gérard Cochet. Today the Guinle mansion is known as Palácio das Laranjeiras, the official residence of the governor of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Located at the end of Rua Gago Coutinho, the park is entered through a beautiful gate that leads to an area of 24,750 m², with a small lake, tree-lined paths, lawns, trees, and tropical plants. The group of apartment buildings to the right of the park was designed by Lúcio Costa, author of the urban plan of Brasília. The entire complex won an award at the 1st Bienal de Artes de São Paulo in 1951 and has been listed as heritage by IPHAN since 1986. Text: Riotur.
