Forte Duque de Caxias Founded in 1779 under another name, Forte Duque de Caxias sits atop Morro do Leme, at the end of the beach of the same name. From up there, the view is exceptional: you can see Christ the Redeemer, the beaches of Copacabana and Leme, and Sugarloaf Mountain from a different angle. In the distance, you can also spot Morro Dois Irmãos, Pedra da Gávea, and the city of Niterói. The whole way is full of marmosets and, with luck, you may even see a squirrel.
