Estação de Getulândia
In 1924, the then-called Capelinha Station was inaugurated by the Estrada de Ferro Oeste de Minas (West Minas Railway). In the 1930s, it was renamed Getúlio Vargas Station in honor of the then president of Brazil. The inauguration of the newly named station attracted politicians and prominent figures of the time. However, it was only in 1943 that the name was shortened to “Getulândia Station,” coinciding with the creation of the district. Regular passenger transport ended in 1980, and the last tourist train operated until 1996.
